Although I would wholeheartedly welcome more community support for people with disabilities, I am concerned at the focus on specific, named conditions. Autism is diagnosed by a loosely defined set of behavioural characteristics. If autism-specific support is made mandatory for public sector services already short of resources, it will become increasingly difficult for those with obvious disabilities but no diagnosis, to get the support they need.

At present in the UK, support is supposed to be available according to need and I would like it to stay that way.

Would be nice to see an autism strategy for the elderly - there seems to be nothing for this population.
