We all know the new Age of Autism book is coming soon. Its stocked at Amazon for example where pre-orders for the book have placed the books ranking at the heady heights of the top 100,000.
However, whats most interesting is the cover art that Messers Blaxill and Olmsted have chosen for the Kindle edition of the book. In a refreshing turn of honesty, they selected the below (click for bigger) as the cover art.
You can also see it in situ at Amazon US store.
A brave and refreshingly intellectually honest move by Blaxill and Olmsted, I think you’ll agree.

very funny – I wonder whether that is likely to boost their sales over the real cover?

That has got to be more than an accident. The title of the wrong cover is just too appropriate.
For fun, we could try to find other covers that would be appropriate for AoA. How about this one, which is at a similar ranking (but in DVD):

This cover is also very appropriate:

Since I’m on a roll, the AoA trifecta:
Age of Autism: #67,918
Callous Disregard: #254,383 in Books
All I Can Handle (Kim Stagliano): #371,114 in Books
Compared to
Autism’s False Prophets (softcover): #33,052 in Books
Autism’s False Prophets (hardcover): #124,575 in Books
AFP was published almost 2 years ago, and is still out-selling the trifecta.

Why Broken Link – surely you’re not suggesting that someone at Amazon recognised the quality of the writing and purposefully assigned it to a category they thought best fit it? ;)

That’s too perfect for words.

Well, yes, Kev my dear, I am suggesting that. It’s not like the title is alphabetically close, or has anything at all in common with AoA. It’s not a simple typo.

I can see that the autism teabaggers are trying to counteract Paul Offit’s book, which by the way I need to start reading. Another “Autism: Made in the USA.” Just sick! People are going to read this book and find it very moving and well written, because they are sheep.

Kev,
that is quite amusing. My guess is that some emails and phone calls have been placed today to try to rectify the situation.
Broken Link,
If my memory serves, Amazon used to show ranking for books by category. Callous Disregard was in the top 100 (or something) in books>children>health>autism or something similar. That allowed groups like AoA to focus attention on Amazon and make a big deal out of getting a high rank. They are unable to do that this time with Age of Autism (the book).

Broken Link,
I see it now—AoA (the book) is #13 in Books > Health, Mind & Body > Personal Health > Children’s Health > Autism & Asperger’s Syndrome. It’s a best seller!
It would be in the top 10 for that category, but the people at the Emmys decided to give an award to Temple Grandin, boosting her book sales. Obviously it was planned to reduce the impact of AoA.

Still there. I imagine an intrepid photoshopper could have a good time taking a screencap and replacing the fantasy authors with Blaxill, Olmstead, and various others among the antivax cast of characters.
