I Am A Child Abuser

22 Jun

Some of the comments coming from Generation Rescue’s ‘Rescue Angels’ are getting scarier and scarier. This was posted to a Parents.com thread:

The problem is that doctors keep telling people that autism is not caused by mercury to cover their asses. They screwed up by giving our kids way too much mercury. Those of us who know this don’t like seeing unknowing parents allowing their kids to rot in the abyss of autism. Wake up and smell the coffee is approprite. Anyone who is not chelating to get rid of the mercury is guilty of child abuse. Every doctor who is not telling their patients to chelate is guilty of malpractice. There was no autism until Eli Lilly started putting mercury in vaccines. Aside from fragile X which some say is not really autism, it is all caused by mercury. Any parent who listens to the doctors tell them that there is no known cause or cure for autism is too damn stupid to have kids.

Now aside from the factual errors, isn’t that the most frighteningly, almost fascist, shivers-down-your-spine-hair-stand-on-end-uh-oh-here-come-the-fundie-whacko’s genuinely disturbing thing you’ve read in awhile?

This is a self-styled ‘Rescue Angel’ of Generation Rescue.

    Scary.

I cant believe Im sitting here reading some person rubbish the views of the majority of the medical proffession, and then want people to take them seriously.

It would help if they actually had some proof to back up their claims, instead of asking for people to get their kids tested by these lunatics!

Ive been blogging to an audience who has no idea what Autism is, and be puting them towards your site, the responses Ive got have been along the same kind of lines of WTF are these people doing apart from talking out of their arses (not you obviously), the EOH.

They did all say however, they would like a brother like Anthony to splash at at will like Megan can, one even asked if I could ask if Meg wanted to come join them for a supermarket sing – a – long!

I am sorry but Chelating just does more than remove mercury it removes the heavy metals that are needed in trace amounts too….

Rotting in the abyss of autism, am I?

Well, I’ll just remember to tell my professor that the next time she enquires where my essay has got to.

As for “there was no autism until…” – er, exactly when do they think Drs Kanner and Asperger were working?

Like you said, it’s scary. Really scary.

I wonder if I’m too stupid to have kids, with my IQ of 140? Actually, may adopt if the Powers That Be will let me, save a disabled sprog or two from falling into the clutches of that lot.

    Rock on, Kevin.

Incidentally, I am developing a bit of a pet theory that these very very outspoken ‘campaigners’ for the right to inject their children with horrible things or force them through so-called therapies that do untold damage are probably somewhere on the spectrum themselves, hence the extreme unwillingness to change their viewpoints or consider other possibilities.

Mr Handley has a very big head. And I don’t just mean he’s conceited.

Will Redwood the son of one of the biggest “mercury moms” has these really low set ears. Those are associated with genetic autism not any kind of mercury poisoning. She never should have put his photos out on Montel. She just sunk her whole theory, in my opinion.

I’m sure Will is and was a fabulous boy. I’m sorry he’s been injected with secretin and who knows how many other chemicals to make him not autistic. I saw his mother and father, I don’t know if they flap or rock or otherwise have symptoms of autism, maybe not but maybe one of their parents or grandparents does.

Its amazing what’s there when people will admit it.

I don’t flap or rock… well, not very often, anyway. There are lots of less obvious autistic/aspergian traits, after all. I bite my knuckle to sinew and blisters and go very quiet (as in mute) when under lots of stress, but that’s the only really visibly autistic thing I do. That and the odd bit of handwringing (they get itchy!).

Matt: A supermarket sing-a-long. That would be Megan’s perfect time out 😀 Oh yeah – with water pistols.

unfortunatly I had read this from another board

It seems to me that i cant mention anything to do with choosing not to chelate my child and beliving my child’s autism was not caused by murcury, lead poisioning ect without getting bashed. It Is no suprise that many of others who feel the same way as i do refuse to go to that board.

Re: “Aside from fragile X which some say is not really autism”

It is thought that up to 6% of those diagnosed with autism have Fragile x syndrome. Fragile X children can exhibit all or some autistic behaviours Unfortunately the condition, while being relatively common ( with something like 1 in 250 women and 1 in 700 males being carriers of it), is still relatively unknown by the medical profession. It can be considered the major known cause of autism.

Being a carrier of the syndrome with a son affected by it and another son a carrier, I would not like parents to discount the condition if their child has been diagnosed with autism. Having this diagnosis shed light on so many aspects of my son’s behaviour and health and gave me many resources to help him and help me deal with it.

Fascinating article on what the government knew about the link between mercury in childhood vaccines and the rise in the incidence of autism, and when they knew it: http://archive.salon.com/news/feature/2005/06/16/thimerosal/index.html.
(You will have to watch an ad to view this article, but that’s because this news source isn’t owned by Rupert Murdoch. It’s worth waiting the 15 seconds.)

The Kennedy piece is rubbish. Its been debunked on numerous levels numerous times. Its so bad in fact that the piece is now accompnied by a 300 word (and growing) correction(s).

See here for a brief overview of the debunking takedown.
