“Pharma shill!” I get called that fairly often. People claim (incorrectly) that I am paid for what I do here at LeftBrainRightBrain. That I only write what I write because I am a shill.
When this comes up I point out that, no, I am not paid. I find the idea that there are many paid bloggers like that to be a bit of a stretch anyway.
I just found this email in our spam comment queue:
“Hi! We are browsing for potential future writers, would likely you be intrigued? This process is not going to get you rich yet unfortunately there is an alluring pay and if you literally appreciate publishing then now this gig is for you.”
Yes, I could get “alluring pay”.
All I have to do is write for a blog that touts HBOT. Yes, a hyperbaric oxygen therapy blog.
I could be an alt-med-pharma-shill!
I think I’ll pass.
**snickers**
awesomely irony is awesome
I’m just wondering why the “alluring pay” is unfortunate. A nod to compromised principles?
OK, I have to come clean….
the comment was left for this blog post:

So, it was really an offer for D’oC. He does a lot more HBOT blogging than I anyway.
Somehow I doubt his clippings will work much in his favor in getting the “unfortunately alluring pay”
Well, to be fair, it’s an offer that is a cut above. It’s something that actually does have legitimate medical use. It’s not laetrille or Matol or OSR.
Did you ever ask what ‘alluring’ meant? :}
So: The “autism biomed” groups are constantly complaining about “pharma shills”, while their favorites are recruiting shills?
On the lighter side, a joke from my museum volunteer days:
“You’ve been promoted from volunteer to minimum wage employee.”
“YES! That’s an increase of INFINITY percent!!”
I’m afraid there’s already a blog that does that.
