Seems German science has asked and answered the question everyone who believes vaccines damage the immune system wanted answering:
Do vaccinations put too much strain on or weaken children’s immune systems? Roma Schmitz and her colleagues from the Robert Koch Institute investigate exactly this research question in the current issue of Deutsches Ärzteblatt International.
Their data are based on the results of the German Health Interview and Examination Survey for Children and Adolescents (KiGGS).
In their study, the authors compare the occurrence of infections and allergies in vaccinated and unvaccinated children and adolescents. These include bronchitis, eczema, colds, and gastrointestinal infections.
The evaluation showed that unvaccinated children and adolescents differ from their vaccinated peers merely in terms of the frequency of vaccine preventable diseases. These include pertussis, mumps, or measles. As expected, the risk of contracting these diseases is substantially lower in vaccinated children and adolescents.

Ironically, I just got sent a link (I get the GR newsletter) inviting parents of totally unvaccinated children to complete a ‘survey’ on the health of unvaccinated children.

There is a massive self-selection bias problem with the survey of course. There is a large check-list of problems and symptoms. You can answer yes or no to most of the illnesses. But the common childhood illnesses also have a ‘rarely’ option to help with parental confirmation bias.
Interesting article. I note that children who had ‘at least one’ vaccine were considered vaccinated; the ‘unvaccinated’ group really were completely unvaccinated. Also kids who were not vaccinated because of prior illness were excluded from the study.
They didn’t look at autism – the unvaccinated group was two small to be reliable for the less common dsorders. But they did look at ADHD and GI disorders. GI involvement is part of the one of the main vaccines-cause-autism theories, so no support there. The similar ADHD figures do not support theories of brain/neural damage by some vaccine ingredient. And of course theories relying on immune system mediation get no support here either.
IIRC those were the three main theories of vaccine injury. Time for someone to come up with a new causal mechanism to maintain the anti-vax momentum.
The prevalence of vaccine-preventable illnesses is worth a look as well. For the vaccinated kids, prevalence was: Petussis 2.3%, measles 5.2%, mumps 3.1%, rubella 6.8%. For the unvaccinated: Petussis 15.8%, measles 15%, mumps 9.6%, rubella 17%. So a few anti-vax myths disappear there as well. Even though less than 1% of kids were unvaccinated, herd immunity does not mean they get off scot-free. Although someone is bound to claim that ANY occurence in a vaccinated kid is ‘vaccine failure’.

I don’t understand your problem with the survey. I took part in the survey and explained that my son Edsel had never been vaccinated and got autism.

@Sheldon101, I had not realized it was being conducted by a homeopath.
I didn’t have to make up stuff. I completed the form for my unvaccinated sister, who died as a baby of undetermined causes. She had recurring upper respiratory tract problems that likely contributed to her death. My mother was going through a homeopathy/naturopathy phase at the time.
And doesn’t a poster here have two unvaccinated children with an ASD? Get thee to the survey site.
