Last year the AutismOne parent convention hosted a talk by someone promoting MMS as a treatment for autism. MMS is a bleach. But MMS supporters and defenders rush to discussions of MMS with claims that it is not a bleach and calling it a bleach is fear mongering.
Only, it is a bleach. As in, apply it to cloth and the color goes away. Don’t believe me? Check out MMS: Yes, It Is Bleach, an article by Emily Willingham at The Thinking Person’s Guide to Autism.
Of course it is bleach. Only someone with a financial interest in the chemical or someone who is too deluded to really function well in society would subject their child to the kind of abuse the MMS gang advocate.
This smacks of the idea that autism is worse than anything up to and including child abuse and therefore any attempt to ‘cure’ it is tolerable, even preferable to loving the child you have. Heinous.
If a parent gave a child poison in juice, milk or water orally, or enemas of that same poison, they would be put in jail for child abuse. Why are parents who give this stuff to their autistic children not going to jail, or at the very least losing custody of their children? Do autistic children really have that low of a value in the eyes of the general population and/or government and law enforcement officials? I don’t get this, really I don’t!
Sadly I’ve wondered the same thing. While I know that parents who subject their children to this abuse try to keep it hidden, it’s still being discussed in open forums and touted publically at places like AutismOne. This is not some dirty little secret, just dirty. I wonder since the resources for caring for abused “neurotypical” children are stretched so thin that it is easier to look the other way when it comes to special needs children. Something else to consider which also makes my stomach churn is that the AAP and by extension the AMA along with state medical boards are doing nothing to sanction their own physicians who enable the systematic abuse of these children.

Indeed, and many other other professional associations.
