Dore UK and Australia are now both in administration

23 May

As noted on this blog and elsewhere, Dore has been marketed as a treatment for ASDs (not to mention dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD) based on extremely limited evidence. Dore UK and Australia have now both gone into administration. In Australia, it is unclear whether clients and staff will get what is owed; in the UK, Dore has stated that they “are presently exploring alternative arrangements to ensure every client is cared for” without (as far as I can see) making clear whether staff will get paid.

There is now a statement about the UK situation on Dore UK’s website. Those affected by this situation should seek advice on getting what they are owed: in the UK, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau is an excellent – and free – place to start. Dore say that they will be updating their website regularly; you will also find information and updates on the Gimpy, HolfordWatch and Podblack blogs. The move into administration has had one mention in the Australian media, but does not seem to have made the UK media yet.

It seems unusual to see a significant provider of dubious ASD treatments go into administration like this – I don’t know if this has happened much before? At any rate, I hope that no-one is left (more) out of pocket by these problems in these Dore companies.

What does it mean to “go into administration”?

    Melody,

I think that is the equivalent of “going through bankruptcy” in the US.

DoreUS have also shut their doors, except perhaps the treatment facility run by Ned Hallowell. You can follow the US action on the US forum:

It might clarify matters related to Wynford Dore if the background of where his millions originally came from was known. The paint company that he sold was the subject of a court case described in this link http://www.lawsociety.ie/Gazette/dec2000.pdf

There is also be an article in the FT archives.
